What are T-levels and what are the grades worth?

T-levels are a type of technical qualification introduced in the UK to provide young people with a vocational alternative to A-levels. The aim is to give students the skills and knowledge they need to enter a specific industry or profession, such as engineering, healthcare, or digital technology.

There are three grades you can achieve with a T-level:

  • Distinction: Equivalent to A* at A-level, this grade indicates an exceptional level of understanding and skill in the chosen subject.
  • Merit: Equivalent to a B at A-level, this grade shows a good level of understanding and skill in the chosen subject.
  • Pass: Equivalent to a C at A-level, this grade demonstrates a basic level of understanding and skill in the chosen subject.

These grades are awarded based on a combination of exams and assessments throughout the two-year T-level course. Students also complete an industry placement to gain practical experience in their chosen field.

Overall, T-levels offer a practical and hands-on approach to learning, giving students the skills they need to succeed in their chosen career path.
