My Twin Died Before Prom, Now We’re Helping Others Go
Losing my twin sister before prom was one of the hardest experiences of my life. We had always dreamed of going together, picking out dresses, getting ready, and dancing the night away. But when she passed away suddenly, everything changed.
After grieving for some time, I realized that I wanted to honor my sister’s memory by helping others have the prom experience that she never got to have. Together with some friends, we started a foundation in her name to provide prom dresses, tuxedos, and tickets to high school students who may not be able to afford them. We want to make sure that every teenager has the chance to create special memories at prom, just like my sister and I had always imagined.
Through our foundation, we have been able to help dozens of students attend prom who otherwise would not have been able to. Seeing the smiles on their faces and knowing that we are making a difference in their lives has been incredibly rewarding.
While I will always miss my twin sister, I find comfort in knowing that her memory lives on through the work we are doing to help others. Prom may just be one night, but the memories made can last a lifetime.
I truly believe that by helping others go to prom, we are keeping my twin sister’s spirit alive and spreading joy to those who need it most.
