Flitescooter eFoil First Ride: This $13K Hydrofoil Meant for Amateurs Is a Rough Ride
Recently, we had the opportunity to test out the Flitescooter eFoil, a hydrofoil electric surfboard that has been gaining popularity among water sports enthusiasts. Priced at $13,000, this high-tech toy is marketed towards amateurs looking to experience the thrill of electric foiling.
Our experience with the Flitescooter eFoil was a mix of exhilaration and frustration. The learning curve is steep, and balancing on the board while controlling the throttle and managing the foil underneath requires a good deal of coordination and skill. The initial attempts were met with a few wipeouts, but with practice, we were able to get the hang of it.
One of the major drawbacks of the Flitescooter eFoil is its weight. At over 50 pounds, it can be difficult to transport to and from the water, especially for solo riders. Additionally, the battery life was somewhat disappointing, lasting only about an hour before needing to be recharged.
Overall, the Flitescooter eFoil offers a unique and thrilling experience for those willing to put in the time and effort to learn how to ride it. While the price tag may be steep, for the right enthusiast, it could be a worthwhile investment in their water sports arsenal.
