Israel condemns Lula likening Gaza war to Holocaust
Israel has strongly condemned former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva for likening the conflict in Gaza to the Holocaust.
Lula recently made controversial remarks during an interview in which he compared Israel’s military actions in Gaza to the genocide carried out by Nazi Germany during World War II.
In response, the Israeli government issued a statement denouncing Lula’s comments as offensive and insensitive, and called on the international community to reject his attempts to equate the two events.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “It is unacceptable to trivialize the Holocaust and diminish the memory of the millions of innocent victims who were brutally murdered by the Nazis. Lula’s remarks are deeply offensive and we condemn them in the strongest possible terms.”
The controversy comes at a time of heightened tensions between Israel and the Palestinian territories, with ongoing violence and clashes in Gaza and the West Bank.
