O’Connor’s estate asks Trump not to use her music
The estate of singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor has asked former President Donald Trump not to use her music at any future events or rallies. The request comes after reports that Trump had used O’Connor’s hit song “Nothing Compares 2 U” at a recent campaign rally.
In a statement released to the press, O’Connor’s estate said, “We do not want Sinead’s music to be associated with the divisive and controversial politics of Donald Trump. We ask that he respect our wishes and refrain from using her music in any capacity.”
This is not the first time that musicians have spoken out against Trump using their music without permission. Artists such as The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and Pharrell Williams have all requested that Trump cease using their music at his events.
